PROGRAM GOAL
The Adult Crisis Program is for individuals that are in immediate psychiatric crisis. The program provides services to Calvert, St. Mary's, Charles, Anne Arundel and Prince Georges Counties.
SERVICES
Assessments and support are provided within a home-like environment while assisting the consumer on resolving their crisis by linking them to community recourses. The Adult Crisis House is a four bed facility. To obtain services or be eligible for this program, a person must be assessed and referred by either a psychiatrist or other qualified mental health professional.
ASSESSMENT PROCESS
Assessment includes a mental health status exam, medical clearance and an initial of care. An assessment of the consumer's needs is completed within 48 hours of admission. The assessment incorporates input from the consumer, psychiatrist, therapist, physician, and family, as appropriate. A plan of action is agreed upon by support staff and the consumer to assist them in stabilizing and returning to the community.
SPECIAL NEEDS
Crisis staff coordinate all services that the consumer receives with the consumer, and when appropriate, with the consumer's natural support network, and the consumer's current medical and mental health providers. Crisis staff links the consumer to all appropriate resources available in the community. These linkages include charities, mental health services, medical services, hospitals, libraries, social services, churches, drug and alcohol services, homeless outreach services, shelters and other resources, as needed. Consumers are provided with the support needed to effectively utilize their resources. This includes, but is not limited to, transportation, assistance in making phone contacts, and assistance in filling out applications.
